The students should also clear the entrance exams and interviews to secure a seat. Every university conducts its own entrance and even big autonomous institutes have their entrance exams. The Course Design! It is a four years course and students taking up the course will have to be patient and compassionate. They are trained to be competent and they provide curative and rehabilitative services. The desire to serve others is the first requirement for a nurse and not all can do the course as empathy and compassion are a must for the course. A doctor may diagnose you but you need a nurse to save your life and healing with care should be provided by the nurses. They are also trained in hospital set ups during their course. The academic learning and practical learning happen side by side. The courseware should be approved by the nursing council of India and it is updated regularly. Subjects! Some of the subjects are pharmacology, sociology, nutrition, nursing foundation, microbiology, psychology, fundamentals of nursing, child health nursing, mental health nursing, anatomy, biochemistry, physiology, communicative English, computer applications, operation theatre techniques, etc. Nursing degree through bsc focusses on developing communication and leadership skills of the students. Fees! The fees structure may vary with institutes but a minimum of 2,00,000 per year is collected from the students. Placements! They are absorbed as nurses, nursing assistants, home care nurses, nursing supervisors, etc. They get an average salary of about 3.5 lakhs to 5 lakhs initially.
